UOC priest and his wife killed in shelling in Donetsk region village
Archpriest Volodymyr Shutov and his wife, Svitlana, have been killed.
In the village of Oleksandro-Kalynove in the Donetsk region, Archpriest Volodymyr Shutov, rector of the Church of the Holy Royal Martyrs, and his wife Svitlana were killed as a result of shelling, reports the Telegram channel of the Pokrovsk Vicariate.
The vicariate’s press service notes that the information has not yet been officially confirmed, and details of the tragedy have not been released.
The church in the village was built through the efforts of Fr. Volodymyr and the parish community in 2018. It is a large building – 30 meters high with a total area of 500 square meters.
Before the outbreak of war, the village belonged to the Horlivka and Sloviansk eparchy.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that UOC churches in Vasylkivka and Bohodukhiv were damaged by shelling.
