Three historic buildings on the cathedral grounds have been transferred to state ownership.

On October 16, 2025, state enforcement officers completed the inventory and transfer of property of the Holy Assumption Cathedral of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the city of Volodymyr, which had been seized from the UOC on October 8.

The information was confirmed to Suspilne by Oksana Liada, Deputy Head of the Department for Enforcement of Court Decisions in the Volyn region.

“The property located in the church and adjoining buildings has been inventoried, all premises sealed, and the locks replaced. The real estate objects specified in the court ruling have been transferred to the claimant,” the official stated.

By decision of the cassation court, the following were transferred to state ownership:
– the Assumption (Mstyslav) Cathedral, built in 1156;
– the bell tower and adjoining wall, dating to 1494;
– and the surrounding walls with gates from the 17th century.

The next step will be the transfer of the complex to the balance of the Ancient Volodymyr historical and cultural reserve. Temporary responsibility for the preserved property has been assigned to the Volodymyr City Council.

As the UOJ previously reported, in Volodymyr, the persecuted UOC eparchy and parish community have rented a new premises for worship.
