His Beatitude officiates Liturgy at Intercession Women’s Monastery
His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv and All Ukraine reminded the faithful of the power of the Protection of the Mother of God and called for prayer for peace for the Ukrainian people.
On October 14, 2025, the Feast of the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv and All Ukraine celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the St. Nicholas Cathedral of the Pokrov Women’s Monastery in Kyiv, reports the Information and Education Department of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
Concelebrating with the Primate were Metropolitan Clement of Nizhyn and Pryluky, Metropolitan Philaret of Lviv and Halych, Archbishops Spyridon, Lavr, and Mark, and the monastery clergy. The abbess of the monastery, Mother Calisthenia (Shamaylo), prayed at the service together with the sisters.
After the Gospel reading, His Beatitude addressed the faithful with a sermon, reminding them of the strength of the Mother of God’s Protection and calling everyone to pray for peace and God’s mercy for the Ukrainian people. He offered prayers for the end of enmity, for the strength of soldiers, for the release of prisoners, for the healing of the sick, and for the comfort of those who have lost their homes.
After the Liturgy, Metropolitan Onuphry and the clergy performed the rite of glorification of the Mother of God. The Primate congratulated the faithful on the Feast of the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos and bestowed his archpastoral blessing.
