In Lviv, UGCC holds a forum with Muslims on common values
The forum discussed the role of faith during wartime, the shared moral values of Christians and Muslims, and joint steps towards peace.
On October 9, 2025, the second Christian-Muslim forum dedicated to the role of religions during war and the search for common values took place in Lviv. This was reported by the press service of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church.
The forum "Religions in Wartime: Common Values and Cooperation" was organized by the UGCC Commission on Interfaith and Interreligious Relations as part of the annual "Ecumenical Social Week".
More than 80 representatives of Christian and Muslim communities of Ukraine, as well as international guests, theologians, chaplains, and public figures participated in the event.
Participants discussed how faith helps people maintain human dignity during war, what moral guidelines unite Christians and Muslims, and how religious leaders can jointly promote peace and healing in society.
The head of the UGCC, Ihor Shaban, noted that the goal of such meetings is to "testify to the unity of believers, regardless of denomination".
The Mufti of the Religious Administration of Muslims of Ukraine, Murat Suleymanov, emphasized that Christians and Muslims «in Ukraine have moved from mutual understanding to true cooperation", helping the army, displaced persons, and praying for peace.
The forum concluded with a decision to continue interfaith meetings in different cities of Ukraine, expanding the scope of cooperation in educational and peacemaking areas.
Earlier, the UOJ reported on a statement by a UGCC cleric regarding UOC believers: "This disease is cured by death."
