During the war, Ukraine's population decreased by 10 million, media

The population of Ukraine is rapidly decreasing.
The war with the Russian Federation has significantly reduced the population of Ukraine. During this time, the country has lost at least 10 million, writes the resource Frontliner.
"Mass migration, record mortality, declining birth rates, and an aging nation pose a serious challenge to Ukraine's future," reports the resource, without explaining how the calculations were made. The UN confirms the figure of 10 million people but claims that these are Ukraine's losses since 2014. From February 2022 to October 2024, the country's population decreased by 8 million.
It should be noted that before the war, according to official data, about 37 million people lived in Ukraine. The last population census in the country was conducted in 2001.
Earlier, the UOJ wrote that, according to former MP Olha Bohomolets, due to the population decline, the Ukrainian nation may disappear within a few generations.
