The hierarch noted that during questioning he did not retract his words but defended the right to historical interpretation and freedom of speech.

Metropolitan Methodius of Budimlja and Nikšić of the Serbian Orthodox Church was questioned by police in the city of Nikšić on the orders of the prosecutor’s office in Bijelo Polje, Montenegro.

The reason was a complaint filed against the hierarch by the NGO “Center for Civic Rights.”

The complaint stemmed from a sermon the metropolitan delivered on July 7 at Podmaine Monastery. In his address, he called the communist leader Josip Broz Tito a “monster” and the Chetnik leader Draža Mihailović a “hero.”

The hierarch noted that during the interrogation he did not withdraw his words but defended the right to historical interpretation and freedom of speech.

Earlier, it was reported that in Montenegro, a Serbian Church priest was attacked.
