The study revealed a big gap in men's and women's beliefs that abortion is morally acceptable and legal.

On June 17, 2025, the Gallup Institute published the results of a new survey on Americans' attitudes towards abortion.

The study revealed sharp differences between men and women in their views on the moral acceptability of abortions and their legality.

According to the data, 61% of women in the USA in 2025 believe that abortion should be allowed, whereas only 41% of men share this view. This is the largest gender gap in 30 years regarding the legality of abortion. Additionally, 57% of women and only 40% of men consider abortion morally acceptable – which also reflects a difference in moral assessment of abortion.

However, the overall level of support for abortions in the USA has dropped: while in 2024, 54% considered abortion acceptable, now – 49%. The number of those who consider abortions morally unacceptable has risen to 40%. Currently, 32% of women and 54% of men identify as pro-life.

The survey also showed that 48% of Americans support restricting or completely banning abortions – compared to 45% last year.

Amid increasing legislative restrictions on abortion in several US states, these data indicate a significant shift towards a more traditional view on the protection of life and family values.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that abortion supporters in the USA will pay a fine of $190,000 for signature forgery.
