92 million jobs will be lost by 2030, AI developer says
Anthropic CEO highlighted that "we do need to raise the alarm" on the rise of AI and how it could cause mass unemployment.
On May 31, 2025, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei told CNN's Anderson Cooper that artificial intelligence could eliminate half of all white-collar jobs within the next five years.
According to Amodei, the creator of the AI Claude chatbot, the rise of artificial intelligence could lead to the disappearance of around 92 million jobs in the near future, primarily due to automation and new technologies, in patricular the AI boom: "it's bigger, it's broader, and iit's moving faster than anything has been before."
The head of Anthropic – one of the leading companies in AI development – issued a warning that society and political leaders are unprepared for such major shifts in the labor market. He stated that unemployment could reach 20% by 2030 unless measures are taken to mitigate the negative effects of AI implementation.
"We are on the verge of significant transformations that will affect not only the economy but the entire fabric of society," said Amodei. In his view, there should be a tax imposed on companies developing AI.
Amodei underscored that the rollout of AI technologies must be accompanied by careful risk management and a strong sense of social responsibility.
