Ukrainian homosexual activists express concern that “democracy is under threat around the world.”

In June 2025, LGBT events will take place in Kyiv, according to a post on the kyivpride Instagram account.

On June 7, a charity LGBT festival will begin, aimed at raising funds for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. On June 14, homosexual activists plan to hold a gay parade in Kyiv.

Representatives of Ukraine’s LGBT community justify their actions by the need to defend their rights and what they call a global attack on democracy.

“In 2025, we are once again taking to the streets of Kyiv. We have no right to remain silent, because human rights are not something that can be postponed until ‘after the victory,’” the activists stated. They voiced concern that “democracy is under threat around the world.”

“The examples of the USA, Hungary, and Georgia show that the assault on LGBT rights is often the first step toward a broader rollback of the rights and freedoms of all people. Today, people are discriminated against on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity, and tomorrow it could be anyone else,” LGBT representatives said, demanding the adoption of a same-sex civil partnership law.

The LGBT parade will take place under the slogan “Unity in Diversity.”

Earlier, the UOJ reported that an LGBT film festival was opened in Kyiv on Good Friday.
