In Ternopil region, exhumation of Volhynian massacre victims begins

In the village of Puzhnyky, Ternopil region, work has begun on the exhumation of the remains of victims of mass killings that took place during World War II, reports the resource rfi.fr.
According to preliminary estimates by Ukrainian RFI correspondent Andriy Horodyskyi, from 50 to 80 Polish citizens, killed here in February 1945, may have been buried in the mass grave.
The exhumation is being carried out by a Ukrainian search group with the support of state and public structures. Preliminary searches began a year and a half ago, but official permission for the exhumation was only obtained at the beginning of 2025.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that according to the head of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ukraine will allow the exhumation of the victims of the Volhynia massacre.
