On April 22, 2025, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with members of the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations (UCCRO) at St. Sophia of Kyiv, according to the website of the Presidential Office.
The President thanked them “for advocating for international support for Ukraine” as well as for “communicating the truth about the real situation regarding freedom of conscience in the country.”
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for National Unity Oleksii Chernyshov, Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Olena Kovalska, and Head of the State Service of Ukraine for Ethnopolitics and Freedom of Conscience Viktor Yelensky.
At the meeting table, Zelensky sat directly across from Epifaniy Dumenko. Representatives of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) were not present.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that Ukrainian authorities had arranged a meeting between UCCRO members and Donald Trump's spiritual advisor, during which the participants assured him of the presence of religious freedom in Ukraine.
