Kyiv authorities urge religious leaders to hold Easter services online
The city authorities link their appeal to the heightened risk of enemy attacks.
Kyiv authorities have called on leaders of religious communities to "limit the holding of large-scale Easter services and to ensure maximum availability of online broadcasts from places of worship on Ukrainian media and via the internet." This was reported by the Department of Culture of the Kyiv City State Administration (KCSA).
"Given the increased risk of enemy attacks, the department also urged religious leaders to take necessary safety measures during the festive services," the statement said.
Authorities also called on religious communities to inform the faithful about procedures in case of an air raid alert and to provide information on the nearest shelters.
The department emphasized that the curfew in the capital will remain unchanged during Easter: from midnight to 5:00 a.m.
During the 2025 memorial days, the city also promised to organize transportation to city cemeteries and will publish a list of routes.
As the UOJ previously reported, Mykola Povoroznyk, First Deputy Head of the KCSA, commented on the restrictions: "Be responsible, follow the recommendations of the military, avoid large gatherings, and take care of one another!"
Meanwhile, on April 18, an LGBT film festival will open in Kyiv. It is scheduled to run on Good Friday, Holy Saturday, Easter Sunday, and throughout Bright Week.
