UOC asks court to delay eviction of community from cathedral in Volodymyr

The Volodymyr-Volynsky Eparchy is asking the court for six months to vacate the cathedral.
The Volodymyr-Volynsky Eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church has appealed to the Economic Court of the Volyn region with a petition to extend the deadline for vacating the complex of buildings of the Dormition Cathedral, reports the regional edition "Buh".
The UOC's lawyer, Archpriest Nikita Chekman, justifies the request by stating that the eparchy needs time to remove property from the expropriated state-owned buildings of the cathedral, the eparchial administration, and the theological school.
He is asking for a six-month delay in implementing the decision to transfer the complex of buildings of the Holy Dormition Cathedral to the state.
The Economic Court of the Volyn region has scheduled a hearing for April 29 to consider this matter.
As reported by the UOJ, the enforcement service of the Volyn Regional Administration notified the Volodymyr-Volynsky Eparchy of the UOC that they must vacate the premises within ten days. If not, an additional fine will be imposed on the Church, and a report will be filed with the police for failure to comply with the court's decision.
