Vance: U.S. foreign misadventures have led to Christian persecution

J.D. Vance stated that he is ashamed of the U.S. foreign policy’s impact on Christian communities worldwide.
On February 27, 2025, U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance declared that one of the things he is most ashamed about is that "in the United States of America sometimes it is our foreign misadventures that lead to the eradication of historical Christian communities all over the world." His speech was broadcast live on the White House’s YouTube channel.
According to Vance, Trump’s efforts to achieve peace should be seen as "an effort to protect the religious liberty of Christians."
"Because over the past 40 years it has often been historical Christian communities who bear the brunt of failed American foreign policy," the Vice President stated.
He underscored that the Trump administration will always have open doors for representatives of Christian denominations.
"I think that it's important and I'll make this commitment to you in front of God and in front of all those television cameras back there that we will always listen to people of faith and people of conscience in the United States of America," Vance said.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that, while still a senator, J.D. Vance spoke out about the persecution of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and the government's attempts to pass an anti-Church law. Vance stated that if the war leads to the destruction of the Christian community in Ukraine, it will be a disgrace.
"It is our shame that we didn't see this coming. It is our shame for our inaction. It is our shame for refusing to use the billions of dollars we send to Ukraine as leverage to ensure and guarantee religious freedom," J.D. Vance concluded at the time.
