UOC church in Khaliavyn, Chernihiv Region, restored after arson

The Vicar of the Chernihiv Diocese awarded parishioners who helped restore the church.
In the Holy Trinity Church of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) in the village of Khaliavyn, Chernihiv Region, which was restored after an arson attack, the Vicar of the Eparchy, Archbishop Nikodim of Liubech, celebrated the Divine Liturgy, reports the press service of the Chernihiv Eparchy.
During the service on the Feast of the Meeting of the Lord (Feast of the Presentation), on February 15, Archbishop Nikodim was joined by Archimandrite Agapit (Tistol), the church’s rector, Archpriest Vadym Malyshko, and other diocesan clergy.
After the Liturgy, Archbishop Nikodim awarded the church’s benefactor, Heorhii Sheremet, with the Order of St. Philaret of Chernihiv for his services to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. He also presented an archbishop’s certificate of merit to active parishioner Nadiia Kuzmenko for her efforts in restoring the church after the fire.
As previously reported by the UOJ, the arson attack on the Holy Trinity Church of the UOC on August 21, 2023, destroyed the bell tower, roof, and ceiling structures of the church. The fire also damaged parts of the walls, community property, and left all church utensils covered in soot after the fire was extinguished.
