Jewish Menorah to be installed on Maidan in Kyiv
The first candle on the Menorah in Kyiv will be lit on the evening of November 28.
The Federation of Jewish Communities of Ukraine (FJCU) will establish the largest Menorah for the celebration of Hanukkah in the Kyiv centre, the Independence Square of Ukraine near the Main Post Office, reports kyivcity.gov.ua.
The FJCU noted that Kyiv will join other cities in the world, where Menorahs are installed in the central squares.
“Hanukkah, which we celebrate from November 28 to December 6, is a holiday symbolizing the victory of light over darkness, purity and sincerity, spirituality over materialism. And this year Kyiv joins the big cities of the world such as Paris, London, New York and others, where Menorahs are installed in the main central squares. And we are grateful to the capital of Ukraine for supporting such a project in Kyiv,” the FJCU reported and added that the first candle on the Menorah would be lit on the evening of November 28.
As previously reported, hundreds of people in Kyiv rallied against the mandatory COVID vaccination.
