Cherkasy Eparchy reports theft of unique panagia

The eparchy explained that the value of the relic lies not in its material worth, but in the relics of saints it contains.
The Cherkasy Eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church has appealed to the public and law enforcement, urging assistance in the return of a stolen panagia.
According to the eparchy, during the looting of the Cherkasy diocesan administration building by representatives of the OCU, this unique relic was among the sacred items taken.
The panagia’s significance is not based on its antique or material value, as it was crafted in modern times. Its uniqueness lies in the relics of four saints, glorified in Cherkasy, that are embedded within it. The appearance of the panagia also holds symbolic importance.
The Cherkasy Eparchy of the UOC calls on anyone who may see a member of the OCU wearing this sacred item or spot it being sold to immediately report the sighting to the police and the eparchy.
As previously reported by the UOJ, Metropolitan Theodosiy spoke out about the looting carried out by OCU “clergy” under the leadership of “Metropolitan” Ioan Yaremenko.
