Head of Polish Church meets with UOC's Kyiv Academy teaching staff members
Representatives of theological schools participated in the patronal feast of the Warsaw Orthodox Seminary.
With the blessing of His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry and under the instruction of Archbishop Sylvester of Bilohorodka, Rector of the Kyiv Theological Academy and Seminary, faculty members of the theological schools visited the Warsaw Metropolis of the Polish Orthodox Church. According to the KDA website, Academic Secretary Archimandrite Mitrofan (Bozhko) and faculty member Hieromonk Joasaph (Mironov) met with the Primate of the Polish Orthodox Church.
During the audience with His Beatitude Metropolitan Sawa of Warsaw and All Poland on December 2, representatives of the Academy discussed current issues of church life.
They presented the Primate with the Academy’s latest publications and received his blessing to work with the documents of the Warsaw Metropolis, which include materials on the history of Orthodoxy in Ukraine during the interwar period in the 20th century.
The following day, representatives of the UOC Academy met with the Rector of the Warsaw Orthodox Seminary, Archpriest Georgiy Tofiluk, as well as faculty and students.
On December 4, the Feast of the Entry of the Most Holy Theotokos into the Temple, Archimandrite Mitrofan and Hieromonk Joasaph participated in the patronal feast of the Warsaw Orthodox Seminary. Vespers on the eve of the celebration was led by Bishop Varsonofy of Siemiatycze, Vicar of the Warsaw Diocese.
On the feast day, His Beatitude Metropolitan Sawa tonsured second-year students of the Warsaw Orthodox Seminary as readers. The Divine Liturgy was celebrated by Archbishop Gregory of Bielsk, Vicar of the Warsaw Diocese, along with clergy from the capital and visiting clergy.
As reported earlier, celebrations marking the 100th anniversary of the autocephaly of the Polish Orthodox Church recently took place in Warsaw.
