Serbian Patriarch discusses ending the war with Ukraine’s new ambassador
The new ambassador is set to assume his duties in December 2024.
On December 3, 2024, Serbian Patriarch Porfirije received the newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to Ukraine, Mr. Andon Sapundžija. The meeting took place at the Patriarchal Court in Belgrade.
According to the Serbian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Porfirije wished the ambassador success and good fortune in carrying out his diplomatic mission in Kyiv. He emphasized that the current situation in Ukraine remains extremely difficult and assured that he is praying for a swift end to the conflict.
Mr. Andon Sapundžija will officially take office by a decree of the President of Serbia before the end of 2024.
As previously reported by the UOJ, the Serbian Patriarch has called for interfaith dialogue.
