The head of the OCU, Epifaniy Dumenko, stated that the anti-church bill does not infringe on freedom of faith but rather "protects it from Kremlin tyranny".
Epifaniy Dumenko, head of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU), stated that the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) is awaiting the passage of bill 8371, LB.ua reports.
"Interestingly enough, this is also expected within the Moscow Patriarchate in Ukraine. The clergy and faithful see that they cannot persuade or influence Metropolitan Onufriy and other leaders in any way. Therefore, they hope that at least a state law will free them from Moscow's slavery," he said.
As the UOJ reported, the MPs did not vote to include bill 8371 on the agenda.
