UOC expresses condolences to families of Kharkiv shelling victims

In the churches of the Kharkiv Eparchy, on the day of mourning, prayers are offered for the repose of the innocently deceased residents of the city.

On August 18, 2025, Metropolitan Onuphry of Kharkiv and Bohodukhiv expressed condolences to the families of those killed and injured in the shelling of Kharkiv. This was reported by the press service of the Kharkiv Eparchy.

"On behalf of the clergy and the flock of the Kharkiv Eparchy, I express deep prayerful condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims, and I also wish a speedy recovery to those injured as a result of the shelling by Russian aggressors in the city of Kharkiv on the morning of August 18. In the churches of the Kharkiv Eparchy, on the day of mourning, prayers are offered for the repose of our innocent deceased citizens," the statement says.

As reported, on the morning of August 18, as a result of a drone attack on a residential building in the Industrial district of Kharkiv, a family of seven was killed. More than twenty residents were injured.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that a Russian drone killed a UOC archimandrite in the Kharkiv region.
