The official visit of Patriarch Bartholomew to Ukraine will be a response to the invitation voiced earlier by Vladimir Zelensky.

The Head of the Patriarchate of Constantinople intends to visit Ukraine in August 2021, during the celebration of Independence Day. Patriarch Bartholomew announced this on Monday, November 30, 2020, after a festive divine service in Phanar with the participation of Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmygal, Orthodox Times reports.

“The Ecumenical Patriarch announced that he would pay an official visit to Ukraine on the Independence Day of Ukraine in August next year, having responded to the invitation of the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky,” the message says.

Earlier, the UOJ wrote that on November 30, the Ukrainian official delegation headed by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal took part in the Phanar celebrations in Istanbul.

We will remind, on October 16, Vladimir Zelensky paid a visit to Phanar, during which he met with Patriarch Bartholomew and invited him to Ukraine.
