Mount Athos governor discusses role of Orthodoxy in diplomacy
At the Spiritual Center of the Metropolis of Alexandroupolis, Mount Athos Civil Governor and retired General Alkiviadis Stefanis delivered a lecture titled “Religious Diplomacy and the Holy Mountain,” UOJ-Mount Athos reported.
In his address, Stefanis focused on the importance of religious diplomacy in today’s international landscape. He stressed that Orthodoxy has significant potential to bring peoples together, foster mutual understanding, promote peace, and sustain constructive dialogue.
The civil governor devoted particular attention to Mount Athos, describing the Holy Mountain as a timeless spiritual beacon for Orthodox Christians worldwide and a unique center of cultural heritage.
At the conclusion of the event, Stefanis presented Metropolitan Anthimos of Alexandroupolis with an icon of the Most Holy Theotokos as a token of gratitude for the warm welcome.
As the UOJ previously reported, three previously unknown copies of the Ostroh Bible were discovered on Mount Athos.
