Odessa Diocese Distributed 1,000 Backpacks to Children from Needy Families
In Odessa, the UOC distributed 1,000 backpacks with school supplies to children ahead of the new academic year.
On August 29, 2026, the Odessa Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church held a charitable event during which 1,000 backpacks with school supplies were distributed to children. This was reported by the press service of the Odessa Diocese.
The event was held with the blessing of Metropolitan Agafangel of Odessa and Izmail. The gifts were received by children from large families, low-income families, as well as internally displaced persons and military personnel.
The diocese noted that it was possible to gather and deliver everything necessary to the children thanks to the support of caring individuals. The Odessa Diocese expressed gratitude to all who joined the initiative and helped bring joy to children on the eve of September 1. The organizers emphasized that such events are held for the sake of the country's future and the children who are growing up in the difficult conditions of war.
