Police blocked a bus with child parishioners of the UOC from entering Pochaiv
Children were forced to walk along the side of a busy highway due to police actions.
Ternopil police blocked a bus with UOC pilgrims at the entrance to Pochaiv. Law enforcement officers refused to allow the vehicle carrying twenty children to enter the Pochaiv Lavra and forced the faithful to walk along the highway on foot.
The law enforcement officers stopped the bus directly at the entrance to the city. At the same time, other vehicles passed through completely freely. The faithful spent a long time asking the police to let them through, pointing out that twenty children were on board. However, the duty police officer refused to listen to the pilgrims.
"Why did you bring these children here?" asked the police representative in response to the requests to allow the bus through to the monastery. As a result, the faithful disembarked on the highway and walked to the Pochaiv Lavra on foot. The pilgrims emphasized that walking along a busy highway puts the children's lives in serious danger.
As the SPJ reported, the head of the "Ancient Kyiv" nature reserve complained that neither the war, nor Russian rockets, nor Ukrainian authorities can stop the cross procession participants from going to Pochaiv.
