As the Union of Orthodox Journalists reported, preparations for the 100th anniversary of the martyrdom of Raphaila of Chyhyryn began in Cherkasy.
Venerable Martyr Raphaila (in the world – Raisa Tartатska) was the abbess of the Chyhyryn Holy Trinity Monastery and, during the years of the godless persecutions of the 1920s, steadfastly defended the Orthodox faith. In August 1926, Mother Raphaila was subjected to brutal torture and killed by the godless, and in 2008 she was glorified among the saints.
