Monastic tonsure held at Krasnohirsk Monastery
Novice Vadym Serkhovets took monastic vows with the name Euthymius.
Metropolitan Theodor of Mukachevo and Uzhhorod tonsured a new monk at a monastery in Zakarpattia. The hierarch performed the rite at the Krasnohirsk All Saints Monastery in Mukachevo, the UOC Information Center reports.
During the rite, monastery novice Vadym Serkhovets took monastic vows. Metropolitan Theodor gave the new monk the name Euthymius – in honor of St. Euthymius the Great. Following the tonsure, the hierarch congratulated the monastery’s abbot, Bishop Hilarion, and the brethren on the addition of a new member to their monastic family.
The ruling bishop wished the newly tonsured Monk Euthymius steadfast faith, a spirit of prayer, zeal for salvation, and true obedience. He called on the new monk to steadfastly bear the cross of monastic life as a path of sacrificial love for Christ.
At the conclusion, Metropolitan Theodor invoked God’s blessing upon all those present and called on them to pray for the newly tonsured monk. He asked the faithful to pray for Monk Euthymius, that the Lord might strengthen him on the path of spiritual struggle.
As the UOJ reported, a monastic tonsure was previously held at the Ascension Monastery in Mlyniv.
