Archbishop of Izium offers condolences to families of Pechenihy victims

Archbishop Ioann called for prayers for the repose of those who died, the healing of the wounded, and comfort for their loved ones.

Archbishop Ioann of Izium and Kupiansk expressed condolences to the families of those killed and injured as a result of a missile strike on the settlement of Pechenihy, Kharkiv region, reports the press service of the Izium Eparchy.

"With deep pain I received the news of the tragic consequences of yet another enemy strike against the civilian population," the hierarch noted.

Archbishop Ioann offered prayers for the repose of the deceased and asked the Lord to grant their relatives and loved ones the strength to endure the grievous loss. The hierarch also prayed for the speedy recovery of the wounded and for the strengthening of the medical workers, rescuers, and all those providing assistance to the victims.

According to the Kharkiv Region Military Administration, as a result of the strike on the central part of Pechenihy, 10 people were killed and at least 18 more were wounded. Private homes, a post office, shops, and vehicles were damaged; a fire also broke out.

"May the Lord protect the civilian population from new trials and grant our land the long-awaited peace," Archbishop Ioann emphasized. 

As the UOJ reported, the Izium Eparchy supported displaced persons from frontline territories.
