Russian shelling destroys UOC church in Konotop Eparchy
The strike destroyed the walls, roof, altar, and unique iconostasis of the church in Semyanivka.
A strike completely destroyed a church of the UOC’s Konotop Eparchy in the village of Semyanivka, Sumy Region, the UOC Information Center reports.
The attack took place during the night of July 22. A direct hit and the fire that followed burned the building to the ground.
The flames destroyed the walls, roof, altar, and unique iconostasis. The church archive and all liturgical furnishings were also lost in the fire. All that remains at the site are charred beams, fragments of brickwork, and the ruins of the foundation.
As the UOJ reported, authorities in the Kherson Region have opened 75 criminal cases over attacks on churches belonging to the UOC and other religious communities.
