Festivities to honor St. Anthony of the Caves begin at Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra
On the eve of the feast of the founder of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry led the All-Night Vigil at the Church of St. Agapitus.
On July 22, 2026, festive services began at the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra on the eve of the feast of St. Anthony of the Caves, the monastery reported on its Telegram channel.
His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv and All Ukraine led the All-Night Vigil at the Church of St. Agapitus of the Caves.
The Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church was concelebrated by Metropolitan Anthony of Boryspil and Brovary, Chancellor of the UOC; Metropolitan Clement of Nizhyn and Pryluky, Chairman of the UOC Synodal Information and Education Department; other hierarchs; the monastery brotherhood; and clergy.
Numerous faithful who had come to the Lavra to honor the memory of St. Anthony of the Caves prayed during the service.
As the UOJ reported earlier, the Primate of the UOC said that St. Anthony is an example of prayer and quiet self-sacrifice.
