The Advocate Health Care network stated that it will not participate in the assisted suicide program in the state of Illinois.

Euthanasia is prohibited in the medical facilities of the Advocate Health Care network in the American state of Illinois. The management of the Advocate Health Care network, which operates 11 hospitals, announced its decision not to participate in the "medical aid in dying" (MAID) law, which will come into force in September. This is reported by LifeSiteNews.

The statement emphasizes that after careful consideration, the organization is refusing such practices across all of its divisions. The document allows patients with allegedly terminal diagnoses and a life expectancy of less than six months to undergo assisted suicide.

Previously, the OSF Health Care, Ascension, and Hospital Sisters Health System networks, affiliated with the Catholic Church, had refused to participate in the program. The Illinois Coalition Against Assisted Suicide sent letters to all medical institutions in the state urging them to follow this example in order to protect patients.

As the SPJ reported, religious clinics in France will be required to perform euthanasia.
