Metropolitan Serhiy visits home village in Bukovyna for patronal feast
Children and believers of the Drachyntsi community welcomed Metropolitan Serhiy on the eve of the Feast of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul.
Metropolitan Serhiy of Ternopil and Kremenets visited his home village of Drachyntsi in Bukovyna to take part in the patronal feast of the UOC community, as reported on the Facebook page of the faithful of the Chernivtsi Eparchy.
His Grace Serhiy grew up in Drachyntsi and attended the local school there. His father lived in this village and served in the village church. The hierarch visits his homeland every year to prayerfully share the feast with his fellow villagers. Children and faithful welcomed the archpastor on the eve of the Feast of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul.
The festive divine service was held in a new church, which the UOC faithful built by their own efforts. Back in the 1990s, supporters of the UOC-KP seized the old village church from the Orthodox community.
Parishioners noted that the meeting with the archpastor became a special event for the community, filling the hearts of the people with spiritual joy. The faithful prayed to the holy apostles for peace, the strengthening of faith, and the bestowal of God's grace.
As the UOJ reported, Metropolitan Serhiy led the festive Liturgy at the Khreshchatyk Monastery.
