MEP Who Criticized UPA Added to "Myrotvorets" Database
Polish Member of the European Parliament Ewa Zajączkowska-Hernik has been added to the "Myrotvorets" database for tearing up a UPA flag during debates on Ukraine's accession to the EU.
Polish Member of the European Parliament Ewa Zajączkowska-Hernik was added to the Ukrainian website "Myrotvorets" database on July 8, 2026, after she spoke at a European Parliament session criticizing the UPA and tore up a red-and-black flag. The deputy announced this on her Facebook page.
The incident occurred during parliamentary debates on Ukraine's accession to the European Union. Zajączkowska called for rejecting the "criminal ideologies" of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN) and the UPA and "throwing them in the trash." According to her, "there is no place in the EU for countries that glorify the killers of Polish citizens." She also criticized Zelensky's decision to create a Pantheon of Heroes.
After the entry appeared in the database, Zajączkowska-Hernik addressed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. She conveyed a message to him "on behalf of millions of Poles": accession to the EU is incompatible with the glorification of OUN and UPA figures, and Polish citizens "will never agree" to Ukraine's admission to the European Union under the current historical memory policy.
"Myrotvorets" is a Ukrainian resource that publishes personal data of individuals whom its administration considers a threat to Ukraine's state security. Foreign politicians, journalists, and public figures who criticize the memory policy associated with the OUN and UPA are regularly added to the database. Previously, the chairman of the Israeli institute "Yad Vashem" was added to the database — for criticizing the glorification of Stepan Bandera and OUN-M leader Andriy Melnyk.
Previously, the SPJ reported that a fresco of Bandera in a Ternopil cathedral of the UGCC was shown online.
