The Embassy in the USA Called the Pagan Holiday of Ivan Kupala a "Symbol of Ukraine"
In the US Embassy, the pagan Ivan Kupala celebration was moved along with the transition of the OCU and the UGCC to the New Julian church calendar.
The Embassy of Ukraine in the United States published a post on Facebook calling to "discover" paganism in the form of the Ivan Kupala holiday. This is evidenced by the embassy's publication on Facebook.
In the post, the diplomatic mission calls Ivan Kupala one of the "symbols of Ukraine," inviting its audience to explore its rituals — jumping over fire, weaving wreaths, and setting them afloat on water. Notably, in Ukraine, Ivan Kupala has always been celebrated on the night of July 7. However, the embassy cites a new date — June 24 — apparently shifting it in line with the OCU and the UGCC transitioning to the New Julian ecclesiastical calendar.
As the UOJ reported, the pagan holiday of Kupala was celebrated on the seashore in Odessa.
