In Scotland, a man was detained for anti-Muslim actions
Edinburgh police have charged a 36-year-old Scottish man with a religiously aggravated assault.
On June 19, 2026, a man carried out a series of armed attacks in the capital of Scotland. Police arrested the suspect after he wounded five men aged between 22 and 39 in different parts of the city. Three of the victims were hospitalized with serious injuries. This was reported by Al Jazeera.
Eyewitnesses posted footage online showing a half-naked man carrying a large bladed weapon wandering the streets and attempting to break down the door of a local pizzeria. Another video captured the moment of his detention: the attacker is lying on the ground and shouting at police officers that he is "defending the country."
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer stated that the perpetrator was motivated by anti-Muslim hatred and promised that he would feel "the full force of the law." For their part, representatives of the Muslim Council of Britain accused the authorities of employing political rhetoric that "demonizes entire communities" and provokes a surge of violence.
The incident occurred against a backdrop of a rise in ethnically motivated crime. In the English county of Lancashire, a 30-year-old migrant attacked a 17-year-old girl with a knife, wounding her in the neck. In Belfast, a similar crime was committed by a Sudanese national: the refugee inflicted serious wounds to a man's face and neck, which led to widespread anti-immigrant riots and arson attacks on homes.
Particular controversy was sparked by a case in Southampton, where a Sikh named Vikrum Digwa fatally wounded 18-year-old British student Henry Nowak. After the attack, the migrant falsely accused the victim of racism, as a result of which the arriving police officers handcuffed the dying young man while the killer calmly watched what was happening.
Responsibility for the harsh suppression of protests lies with UK Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood — a Muslim woman of Pakistani origin. She had previously told opponents of migration in blunt terms that she would not allow "white liberals" to restrict her from taking tough measures against critics of migration policy.
