Ostapenko: The Lavra’s future lies in the union of the OCU and the state
The head of the Lavra Reserve believes the Lavra’s future lies in broadcasting Ukrainian values to the world.
Maksym Ostapenko, head of the Lavra Reserve, spoke about his vision for the future of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra in an interview with Akim Halimov.
According to Ostapenko, “the task of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra as a national shrine is to unite the restoration of Ukrainian prayer, the OCU, and the state.”
“This synergy between the state and the OCU, between the reserve and the monastery, should, to a significant extent, over the next 25 years create the image not merely of a cultural heritage site, or a reserve, or a monastery, but should give birth from a national shrine to a world shrine that will transmit key Ukrainian messages, key Ukrainian values, and show that we are part of European culture,” Ostapenko said.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that, according to Ostapenko, the Lavra exists thanks to the creation of the reserve there.
