Soros foundation to commit $30 million to combat antisemitism and Islamophobia
The head of Open Society called combating hate around the world a personal matter for his international family.
Alexander Soros, son of billionaire George Soros, announced that Open Society Foundations will allocate $30 million to support organizations countering the spread of antisemitic and anti-Muslim sentiment in the United States and around the world.
According to Alexander’s video address, the decision came in response to rising tensions and discrimination, which the foundation’s chair described as a deeply personal issue for his family. He noted that, as a Jew and the son of a Holocaust survivor, he is "acutely aware" of the danger of persecution on national and religious grounds, while he himself is married to a Muslim woman.
“Discrimination and hate aren't abstract concepts to me or my family,” Alexander said. “They are deeply personal and have been persistent throughout our lives.”
According to him, the allocated funds are intended to help keep people safe and serve as a tool for protecting minority rights. “At a moment like this, we need to stand together and act. This investment is about keeping people safe and pushing back against hate,” the head of Open Society added.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that, according to an MP, Soros is investing millions in the destruction of the family and Orthodoxy.
