Primate of Romanian Church awards Patriarch Theophilos with order
Patriarch Daniel presented the Primate of the Jerusalem Church with the highest award for defending Orthodoxy and contributing to strengthening the unity of Local Churches.
The Primate of the Jerusalem Orthodox Church Patriarch Theophilos III received the order "Faith and Communion," reports Basilica.ro publication.
The award was presented on behalf of Romanian Patriarch Daniel by Archimandrite Ioan Meiu, who heads the Representation of the Romanian Church in the Holy Land. The parties discussed issues of inter-church cooperation and the importance of preserving canonical order in the Orthodox world.
The order consists of an honorary diploma and an encolpion with an image of the Holy Trinity. In addition to the official award, the Romanian representative presented Patriarch Theophilos with a silver filigree lamp for the Lord's Tomb. This gift was presented by Archimandrite Ioan on behalf of his spiritual children as a sign of respect for the ministry of the Primate of the Jerusalem Church.
The Romanian Patriarchate awards the order "Faith and Communion" to clergy and laypeople for exceptional activity in defending the Orthodox faith. The award also emphasizes merits in promoting unity and the positive image of the Orthodox Church both in Romania and at the international level.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that Patriarch Theophilos III baptized the son of Greek diplomats in the Bethlehem cave.
