Widows of late UOC priests supported in Kyiv
A meeting for the wives of late Kyiv clergy was held on the Sunday of the Myrrh-Bearing Women.
On April 26, 2026, the Kyiv Eparchy’s Department for Family Affairs organized a meeting for the wives of late clergymen at the capital’s Church of the Holy Great Martyr Panteleimon, the UOC Information Center reports.
The event was held with the blessing of His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv and All Ukraine.
Eparchial Secretary Archpriest Viktor Ivashchuk, together with the clergy, served a moleben to the holy and righteous Ancestors of God Joachim and Anna, as well as a litiya for the repose of the departed priests. Liturgical hymns were sung by the choir of Kyiv clergy.
After the service, Father Viktor conveyed the Primate’s personal blessing to the priests’ widows. He wished the women earthly consolation and noted that the entire fullness of the Church prays for their families. Each participant received flowers and gifts and was then invited to a festive meal.
The head of the Family Department, Archpriest Georgiy Ivanychko, said such gatherings had become an important tradition, helping express gratitude for the many years of service of the late priests. This was the second meeting prepared by the department specifically for widows of Kyiv clergy.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that a meeting of Orthodox youth from different regions of Ukraine had taken place in Kyiv.
