A peaceful rally and march in support of Metropolitan Tychikos will take place in Paphos, Cyprus, amid the ongoing church conflict.

A peaceful protest in support of Metropolitan Tychikos of Paphos is scheduled to take place in Paphos on April 26, 2026, outside the city hall building, Cyprus Mail reports.

The event will begin at 3:30 p.m. in the square in front of the municipal offices. Organizers say their aim is to express disagreement with the Holy Synod’s decision to suspend Bishop Tychikos, and to call for what they describe as the “restoration of justice and truth.”

Participants also plan to state publicly that he should be restored to his position and that the sacred canons must be observed. After the rally, a march to the Paphos Metropolis is expected.

Previously, Orthodox faithful in Paphos sent an open letter to Archbishop Georgios of Cyprus expressing concern over the developing situation surrounding Metropolitan Tychikos, speaking of a campaign to discredit him, and calling for dialogue, canonical justice, and the prevention of a church schism.

In addition, on April 20, the Metropolitan’s legal representatives issued an official statement refuting media claims that he was allegedly planning to create a separate church structure. The lawyers called those allegations groundless and described them as a deliberate campaign to discredit the hierarch, while not ruling out legal action to defend his honor and dignity.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that the Patriarchate of Constantinople had once again rejected Metropolitan Tychikos’s appeal.
