Metropolitan Ephrem appoints nun of Intercession Monastery as abbess
Nun Emilia (Bondar) became the abbess of the convent in Kryvyi Rih.
On April 13, 2026, Metropolitan Ephrem of Kryvyi Rih and Nikopol elevated the senior sister of the Intercession Women's Monastery in Kryvyi Rih, nun Emilia (Bondar), to the rank of abbess of the monastery, reports the eparchy's press service.
The rite took place during the Divine Liturgy, according to the resolution of the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The hierarch placed a pectoral cross of office on the newly appointed abbess and also presented her with documents confirming her appointment to abbess service.
Upon completion of the service, Metropolitan Ephrem presented Abbess Emilia with the abbess staff – a symbol of spiritual leadership and pastoral responsibility for the monastic community entrusted to her.
As the UOJ reported, after the expulsion of the nuns from the Krupytskyi monastery, they pray under the open sky.
