Monastic tonsures performedI in Dnipro’s Tykhvin Convent
At the convent of the Dnipropetrovsk Eparchy of the UOC, three nuns received the great schema, while another novice was tonsured into the rassophore.
On the evening of April 2, 2026, Thursday of the sixth week of Great Lent, monastic tonsures were performed at the Tykhvin Convent in the city of Dnipro, according to the diocesan press service.
The rite of tonsure into the great schema and into the monastic life was led by Metropolitan Irinei of Dnipropetrovsk and Pavlohrad. Praying at the service were Archpriest Mykola Nychyporuk, secretary of the diocesan administration; Archpriest Vasyl Krat, the eparchy’s spiritual father; Abbess Zosima (Svarchevska), the head of the convent; the sisters of the monastery; and pilgrims.
During the tonsure into the great schema, Nun Vasylysa (Chentsova) received the name Joanna in honor of the Prophet, Forerunner, and Baptist of the Lord John; Nun Vera (Sukhomlyna) received the name Stratonika in honor of the Martyr Stratonikos of Singidunum; and Nun Terentiya (Vasenko) received the name Taora in honor of Venerable Taora of the Thebaid.
A monastic tonsure was also performed for Novice Viktoriya (Podalekova), who received the name Viktoriya in honor of the Martyr Victoria of Culusi.
At the end of the service, Metropolitan Irinei congratulated the newly tonsured sisters on taking the monastic habit and wished them God’s help in fulfilling their vows and in their spiritual struggle.
