Donald Trump’s personal pastor, Mark Burns, said the president has a “spiritual obligation” to go to war with Iran, The Telegraph reports. According to the preacher, Trump did the right thing when he authorized strikes on the country.
Burns said that the two attempts on Trump’s life “changed something” in him and strengthened his faith. Speaking at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), the pastor justified military action in religious terms. “It’s our obligation, spiritual obligation. If I saw a woman being raped by a man, it’s my spiritual obligation to go over there and to defend that innocent woman,” Burns said, explaining his position.
The preacher said millions of Iranians are suffering under the actions of an “evil dictator,” drawing a parallel with the situation in Russia and Ukraine: “There are millions of innocent Iranians that have been held by gunpoint at the hand of this evil dictator, just like what’s happening in Russia, in Ukraine.”
In his view, the people of Iran are "shouting thankfulness" to Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that this evil regime is "now being toppled and being challenged so that they can be free." Burns stressed that the American side is not "looking for the fight" but must fulfill its duty.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that a Muslim woman had left Trump’s religious advisory council over the war with Iran.
