TRC and SBU abduct two monks from UOC monastery in Izium
Law enforcement officers took away and are holding at the TRC Archimandrite Leontiy and Hieromonk Arseniy from the Peschansk Monastery.
The Monastery of the Peschansk Icon of the Most Holy Theotokos (UOC) in the city of Izium reported the abduction of two residents. According to information published on the monastery's Facebook page on March 27, 2026, representatives of the SBU and TRC broke into the monastery.
As stated in the message, Archimandrite Leontiy and Hieromonk Arseniy were taken from the monastery. "Today representatives of the SBU and TRC broke into our monastery and, using physical force, abducted Archimandrite Leontiy and me, Hieromonk Arseniy," the publication states.
The monastery also reported that the clergy were taken to the Territorial Recruitment Center department, where they are "under lock and key."
In connection with the incident, the monastery appealed to believers with a request for prayer support and announced a temporary suspension of the acceptance of requests for religious services.
As the UOJ reported, in Kharkiv the TRC detained a hieromonk and novice of a UOC monastery.
