In Sofia, Muslims, Jews and Christians pray on 4th anniversary of Kyiv's liberation
Chaplains from 14 Christian organizations, Muslims and Jews held an ecumenical prayer in Kyiv.
On March 24, 2026, an interfaith prayer for Ukraine took place at Saint Sophia's Cathedral in Kyiv. The event was timed to coincide with the fourth anniversary of the liberation of the capital and Kyiv region from Russian forces in 2022, reports the national preserve "Saint Sophia of Kyiv" on its Facebook page.
The event was organized by the Military Chaplaincy Service of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Military chaplains representing 14 Christian organizations, as well as Muslim communities and Messianic Judaism, participated in the joint prayer.
The participants prayed for Ukraine's victory and for the defenders who are on the contact line. Prayers were also offered for wounded and sick servicemen, for those missing in action, and for those who gave their lives for the country.
Representative of the Military Chaplaincy Service of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Rostyslav Vysochan emphasized the significance of the chosen location. "In this united prayer, we created memory in this outstanding place, in the place of interfaith prayer for Ukraine, which resounds in the Saint Sophia of Kyiv on the occasion of state and religious holidays," the clergyman stated.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that at Saint Sophia's a mufti prayed for peace with Zoria, Catholics and Protestants.
