The Speaker of the House of Representatives stated that there is growing concern in society about attempts to impose Islamic law, which is incompatible with the American Constitution.

Speaker of the House of Representatives of the USA Mike Johnson stated that demands to implement Sharia norms in American society cause serious concern. According to him, many citizens consider such initiatives a threat, since Islamic law contradicts the US Constitution, reports The Guardian.

The statement was made at a press conference during a Republican meeting in Doral, Florida, USA, where Johnson was asked to comment on harsh statements by some congressmen about Muslims.

The Speaker noted that he discussed with them "the tone," however emphasized that the very problem of spreading Sharia ideas in the USA causes serious alarm among many Americans.

"I’ve spoken to those members and all members, as I always do, about our tone and our message and what we say. There’s a lot of energy in the country, and a lot of popular sentiment that the demand to impose sharia law in America is a serious problem. That’s what animates this. The language that people use, it’s different language than I would use. But I think that’s a serious issue," Johnson also added that such demands are “contrary to the US Constitution”.

As the UOJ wrote, in New York, ISIS supporters carried out a terrorist attack at an anti-Islamic protest.
