Metropolitan Onuphry led the Great Compline at the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, with the reading of the Great Penitential Canon of St. Andrew of Crete.

His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry led the reading of the Great Canon of Repentance at the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra on February 23, 2026, reports the UOC press service.

The Primate celebrated Great Compline with the reading of the great Penitential Canon of Saint Andrew of Crete on the first day of Great Lent at the church of Saint Agapitus of the Caves.

The monastery brethren, numerous parishioners and pilgrims prayed together with His Beatitude. The Lavra's brotherhood choir sang during the reading of the Canon.

The Canon of Saint Andrew of Crete is traditionally read during the first four days of Lent and reminds the faithful of the path of repentance.

As the UOJ reported, His Beatitude Onuphry addressed his flock before the beginning of Great Lent.
