UOC Primate blesses special prayer rule for Great Lent
Metropolitan Onuphry blessed to pray for peace in Ukraine during Great Lent.
His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry in his archpastoral message to the clergy and faithful before the beginning of Great Lent 2026 blessed a special prayer rule, reports the UOC press service.
In his address, the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church noted that in the current trials for the people of Ukraine, the fast acquires special significance as a time of spiritual purification and good deeds.
His Grace emphasized that abstinence should become a manifestation of love and mercy, and prayer should be support for those who suffer, are in captivity, or have lost loved ones. He called upon the faithful not to become embittered by sorrows, but to overcome evil with patience and love.
The Primate has blessed the faithful to undertake a special prayerful effort for peace in Ukraine — to read Psalm 90 daily and make seven bows with the Lord’s Prayer.
As the UOJ reported, His Beatitude Onuphry addressed his flock before the beginning of Great Lent.
