An OCA representative met with Metropolitan Sava and discussed humanitarian support for Ukrainian refugees in Poland.

Archpriest Alessandro Margheritino, a representative of the Orthodox Church in America (OCA), made an official visit to the Polish Autocephalous Orthodox Church from February 14 to 18, 2026. This was reported by UOJ in America.

The visit took place with the blessing of the OCA’s primate, Metropolitan Tikhon, and at the invitation of Metropolitan Sava of Warsaw and All Poland. The central point of the trip was an audience in Warsaw, where the sides discussed inter-church cooperation, youth initiatives, and the humanitarian work of the ELEOS organization. Over recent years, the OCA has raised more than $700,000 to support ELEOS projects that provide assistance to Ukrainian refugees in Poland.

Archpriest Alessandro also concelebrated at services in Lublin, took part in events marking World Orthodox Youth Day, and visited social institutions and integration centers serving displaced families. The guest also went on pilgrimage to the Holy Mountain of Grabarka, visiting the Monastery of Saints Martha and Mary, and met with seminarians in Warsaw.

As the UOJ previously reported, the Orthodox Church in America recognized the autocephaly of the Macedonian Orthodox Church. The decision was adopted by the Holy Synod of the OCA in May 2022, a step described as significant for strengthening inter-Orthodox ties.
