A "Maslenytsia” charity fair was held at the St Sergius parish in the city of Korets, during which 21,500 hryvnias were raised to help children with cancer.
On February 15, 2026, a “Maslenytsia” charity fair took place at the St Sergius parish in Korets, raising 21,500 hryvnias for the treatment of children with cancer. The event was held with the blessing of Metropolitan Pimen of Rivne and Ostroh, the press service of the Rivne Eparchy of the UOC reports.
The fair was timed to the Sunday of the Last Judgment and the Feast of the Meeting of the Lord. According to the parish rector, Priest Yaroslav Kholodnytskyi, it was organized in order to help seriously ill children and raise funds for their treatment.
The priest noted that holding such charitable events has already become a good tradition of the community – they have been organized for several years in a row. This year, through joint efforts, parishioners collected 21,500 hryvnias.
The rector emphasized that social ministry is an integral part of parish life. He recalled the Gospel words about mercy toward those in need, noting that helping one’s neighbor is a manifestation of living faith and Christian responsibility.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that in Khmelnytskyi, the UOC raised money at a Maslenytsia celebration to pay for a child’s treatment.
